An výnimkou je nechcená a neočakávaná chyba v programe. Väčšinou nastane výnimka, keď sa v našom kóde vyskytne chyba, ale dá sa to vyriešiť. Narúša to normálny tok kódu.

IllegalStateException v jazyku Java

IllegalStateException je podtrieda triedy RuntimeException, a preto ide o nekontrolovanú výnimku. Explicitne to vyvoláva programátor alebo vývojár API. Vyhodí sa, keď je volanie metódy nezákonné alebo sa metóda volá v nesprávnom čase.

Napríklad, keď spustíme vlákno, nemôžeme znova spustiť to isté vlákno; ak sa o to pokúsime, vyvolá výnimku runtime, t.j. IllegalStateException .
